Plans start out with 30 MB of memory, and trust me, that is enough if you have a site with an average amount of content. Currently, my website is using about 20 MB of its memory, and it had plenty of extra directories and content. But, if you sicerely feel like you have loads of content to put onto your subdomain, your can apply for option two. And also, you can select option three, but that is basically just for hosting MySpace layouts and codes and such, but not have an actually site, so 20 MB should be way more than enough for you there.
